Johnson was able to transform his fame in the wrestling ring into a successful career as a film actor as well, appearing in The Mummy Returns and Tooth Fairy. The other projects include his role in the HBO show Ballers, prominent roles in Fast & Furious and Jumanji franchises and an acting voice in Disney's Moana. Rocky Johnson, the professional wrestler's son, and Ata Johnson, his mother are the parents. Peter Maivia was his maternal great-grandfather and he rose to fame as a High Chief in the professional wrestling world throughout the 1960s and the 1970s. Johnson's childhood was spent traveling and watching his father wrestle in the boxing ring. Johnson was a football player throughout the years of high school and soon he was awarded full scholarships to The University of Miami where he did well. He received his bachelor in General Studies (criminology and biology) in the same academic year.
